Harmonie Keys

Rick Wade’s harmonic world, turned into a playable instrument.

A browser-based chord and melody workstation. No AI, you create the grooves. If you hit play on an empty grid, you get silence.

Not another chord generator. Not another preset warehouse. A browser-based instrument built for producers chasing chords with weight, memory, and feel.

Built from Rick Wade’s musical DNA: original voices, layered sequencing, jumpstart scenes, WAV + MIDI export, and no subscription hanging over your head.

Why people buy this

You are not buying features. You are buying the feeling.

Harmonie Keys exists for producers who are sick of clicking through endless presets, landing on something technically “correct,” and still feeling nothing.

A small taste of what's possible with Harmonie Keys.

This melody is a direct wav export straight from the tool.

Hear the individual layers inside it

Once the full mix lands, the stems prove the point: the feeling is coming from distinct voices with their own shape, color, and job in the arrangement.

Cinema Strings

The suspended cinematic lift. Voice carry atmosphere without turning into generic soundtrack sludge.

Layer stem

Lonely Strum

A character layer with melancholy and contour. Move beyond safe, expected chord-tool territory.

South Side

Gritty layers with bite. Don't be afraid of showing range and a more street-level emotional color.

Why this exists

This is not another chord tool built by people who learned “soul” from plugin demos.

Harmonie Keys was built by Rick Wade Detroit deep house producer, 30+ years on wax, and a sound shaped by 70s soul, jazz-fusion police drama chase scenes, late-night FM radio, rare groove, worn Rhodes, and harmonic restraint.

Every voice inside this instrument comes from actual musical DNA — not stock patches, not generic filler, not some giant preset landfill. If you’ve ever clicked for an hour and still felt nothing, this was built for you.

Fast start

From blank screen to WAV + MIDI export, fast.

Pick a voice, build a phrase, play it back, export, move on.

Watch the quick-start workflow

No menu maze. No plugin gymnastics. Just enough structure to get to the feeling without killing momentum.

What happens here

Get it and start punching out grooves immediately.

  • 01
Select a voice. Start with a sound that already has character instead of scrolling through lifeless filler.
  • 02
Build a melody fast. Use the mouse, computer keyboard, or a MIDI controller to sketch the idea. There's also a 'Live Record' option for those who like to get loose with it.
  • 03
Play it back. Hear the phrase immediately and make sure the mood is right before committing.
  • 04
Export to WAV or MIDI. Once it hits, punch it out and keep moving instead of getting trapped in software.

That is the point: less friction, faster ideas, more keepers.

Proof

See the instrument. Watch the groove playback.

No mockups. No fake interface glamor shots. This is the real tool, in motion, doing the thing it is supposed to do.

Watch it playing a groove

See the layers, sequencing, and voices. The easier it feels to move, the faster you get to something worth keeping.

Saved scenes and preset jumpstarters inside Harmonie Keys

Start from mood, not emptiness

Jumpstart scenes keep you from staring at a blank grid waiting for inspiration to show up.

Keyboard, meters, and export tools inside Harmonie Keys

Play, monitor, export, move on

Once the feeling is there, get it out fast as WAV or MIDI and keep building in your DAW.

What’s inside

Everything here exists to get you to the right emotion faster.

The point is not complexity for its own sake. The point is less friction between what you hear in your head and what comes out of the speakers.

Four lanes

Three melodic layers plus dedicated bass. Build contrast, stack weight, and create movement without opening three other tools first.

30+ original voices

Rhodes, strings, pads, odd textures, basses, and left-field character voices chosen to carry emotion, not just occupy frequency space.

Saved scenes + jumpstarters

Use presets as emotional launch points, not as final answers. Start faster. Personalize harder.

Reference loop workflow

Load a loop or rhythm reference and build against momentum instead of composing in a vacuum.

WAV + MIDI export

Export full ideas, isolated layers, or MIDI and keep moving. No rebuilding the progression from scratch later.

No subscription treadmill

Open it in your browser. Use it. Export. Done. Pay once and get back to making music instead of babysitting accounts.

Inside the instrument

It looks deep because it is deep.

This is the real deal, not a vague concept wrapped in moody type.

FAQ

Kill the hesitation.

Answers to some common questions.

What is Harmonie Keys?

Harmonie Keys is a browser-based creative tool for building rich, emotional chord progressions and harmonic ideas quickly. It was designed for producers who start with mood, atmosphere, and feeling.

Is Harmonie Keys a plugin?

No. Harmonie Keys is not currently a VST, AU, or DAW plugin. It runs in the browser.

Does it run inside my DAW?

No. Harmonie Keys is meant to be used alongside your DAW, not inside it. It works best as a dedicated harmony and idea-generation tool that helps you find the emotional core of a track before or during production.

Who is Harmonie Keys for?

Harmonie Keys is for producers, composers, and beatmakers who:

  • Like starting with chords, mood, and atmosphere
  • Want to move quickly from blank screen to strong harmonic ideas
  • Are comfortable sketching outside the DAW, then bringing those ideas into their wider workflow

Who is Harmonie Keys not for?

It may not be the right fit for producers who:

  • Only want tools that run directly inside their DAW
  • Strongly prefer a traditional plugin-first workflow
  • Want a full all-in-one production environment

Why is it browser-based?

It is built entirely on Web Audio API as a single self-contained application. No installs, no dependencies, no updates to manage. Open a Chromium browser and you are playing.

What kind of music is it best suited for?

Harmonie Keys is especially strong for deep house, lo-fi, soul, hip-hop, ambient, jazz-informed electronic music, and other styles that depend heavily on mood, harmonic color, and emotional atmosphere. That said, it can be useful anywhere rich chords matter.

Do I need music theory?

No. Harmonie Keys is built to help you find beautiful harmonic movement by ear and instinct, not just theory. Some theory knowledge can help, but it is not required.

Is this a DAW replacement?

No. Harmonie Keys is not trying to replace your DAW. It is a dedicated tool for developing chord progressions, harmonic ideas, and emotional direction quickly.

Will it fit my workflow?

That depends on how you like to work. If you are comfortable building ideas outside the DAW and then integrating them into your production process, it can be a strong fit. If you only enjoy working inside a DAW plugin environment, it may not be ideal for you in its current form.

Can I try it before buying?

At the moment, there is no full demo or trial version. That is why the Before You Buy section is important: it is there to help you decide whether the workflow makes sense for you before purchasing.

Why use this instead of playing chords in my DAW?

Because sometimes the hardest part is not making chords exist. It is finding the right emotional center fast. Harmonie Keys is built to reduce friction, spark ideas, and help you land on lush, usable harmonic material quickly.

Is this only for advanced producers?

No. Advanced producers can move fast with it, but newer producers can also benefit from having a focused tool that helps them build stronger harmonic ideas without getting lost.

Is it a subscription?

No. One payment. No recurring fee hanging over your workflow. Open it, use it, export, move on with your life.

Will there be future updates?

Yes. Harmonie Keys is actively evolving, and user feedback plays a real role in shaping future improvements.

Why this instead of another chord tool?

Because this is not just about chord theory. It is about harmonic taste, voicing weight, and emotional direction. That is the part most generic tools still miss.

Still unsure? Send a message before buying and I will tell you honestly whether Harmonie Keys sounds like the right fit for your workflow.
